Pattern Reviews — The Assembly Line Cuff Top

The Assembly Line Cuff Top is a quick, easy, satisfying sew making it the perfect project to start the new year with! It's chic silhouette is super versatile and looks great layered too. We made ours up in our Embroidered Mirror Silk - Ivory, which is currently on special! The structured body of this silk holds the shape well and adds a playful glimmer to any #memade wardrobe! Kindly worn by Lisa from our Online Store team.

Pattern Review

The Cuff Top by The Assembly Line

The Cuff Top has a straight fit with all-in-one sleeves and wide elastic sleeve cuffs. The smaller size range comes with a boat neck and the larger size range has a keyhole opening with button at back and french darts.

We made up the size small for Lisa, with no modifications to the pattern or fit and think this turned out really well! We used 20cm more than the suggested amount given by The Assembly Line, taking 1.3 metres of Embroidered Mirror Silk - Ivory, as we had to tactically place the front and back pieces to leave space between the seam allowance between the mirrors. We also opted for contrasting fabric for the neck facing so we didn't have the embroidered mirrors against the skin, this took up 30cm of our Cotton Crepe - White.

This is a fun, quick project that anyone from a beginner sewist level could easily complete within a day, hooray!

Like the jeans Lisa is wearing? They're the Megan Nielsen Dawn Jeans, read our blog post on them here!

Fabric Used

We think our Embroidered Mirror Silk - Ivory has the ideal structure and body for this boxy styled top! It's a densely woven style with incredible lustre that features small plastic silver mirrors embroidered all over.
Plus this Designer Silk has been reduced to just $12/m in all stores and online now, while stocks last!

Other fabrics The Assembly Line suggest are, light - medium weight fabrics such as cotton, silk crepe de chine, or linen.
