Pattern Reviews — Papercut Patterns Axis Dress

Our friends at Papercut Patterns have just released their new collection RUBIX and we couldn’t be more excited! We picked the beautiful Axis Dress from the new range to showcase one of our fun, summery Liberty prints! Read on for our review of this pattern, kindly worn here by Genevieve from our HQ team.

Pattern Review

Papercut Patterns – Axis Dress

Papercut call this style a timeless ode to Audrey Hepburn, featuring a vintage inspired straight neckline and waist ties that can be wrapped around to tie at the front, or fastened at the back. The pattern offers a couple of options including a figure hugging pencil skirt with front split and an equally classic and flattering A-line silhouette.

We chose the pencil skirt style for Genevieve and love how the tie fits her waist perfectly. Genevieve’s measurements were between sizes so we merged the bodice of the size 3 with the skirt in size 4 and this proved to be a great fit for her! For this size, we used 2.3m of our beautiful soft Liberty Tana Lawn – Garden Wonderland / D (136cm wide) - as this is a one way print the yield may vary if you are using dual directional fabric. Papercut recommend this pattern to be suitable for a skilled sewist and we agree as you will need to know how to sew an invisible zip, apply a waistband and bag out seams.

You can purchase the hardcopy pattern in all of our New Zealand and Australian brick and mortar stores as well as from our online store here. Also, did you know all Papercut patterns are printed in New Zealand, made from recycled materials and are fully recyclable?!
