Pattern Reviews — Trina Wrap

A luxe wrap dress is without a doubt a timeless and versatile addition to any #memade wardrobe! Whether you’re looking for a statement party piece, a trans-seasonal layering staple or an elegant robe to swan around the house in; the wrap dress has you covered. We came across the Trina by Victory Patterns and love the balance of ease and extravagance the style offers. Read on for our full review, featuring our beautiful Vintage Rose Rayon Crepe worn by Briar from our HQ team.

Pattern Review

Trina Robe by Victory Pattern

Trina is a classic wrap dress with a full sleeve and cross over bodice and features small gathers above the bust. The dress features a wide rectangular sleeve and comes in two versions; a tunic length and a dress length. We picked the dress version and matched Briar’s measurements to the size 2. We used 4.6m of our Vintage Rose Rayon Crepe (126cm wide) and chose not to line our robe. One of our favourite things about Victory patterns is that they always include excellent instructions! The Trina is no exception, offering an in-depth glossary of terms and techniques which make the pattern super easy to follow. Victory recommend this pattern would suit an Intermediate sewist, which we would agree with – to achieve its dramatic shape the pattern features some intricate detailing, not to mention the volume of fabric you will need to wrangle!

The Trina Robe pattern is available to purchase as a print-at-home PDF download from the Victory Patterns website.

Fabric Recommendations

Rayon Crepe – Vintage Rose

Victory Patterns recommend using a light to mid-weight fabric with soft drape such as double gauze, voile, chiffon, georgette, crepe de chine or rayon. We love how this turned out in Rayon Crepe with a beautiful texture and luxe drape. All of our stores have a range of Rayon Crepe colours available, including this delicious bunch below featuring Grape, Maple, Steel, Persimmon, Dijon, Sage, Linseed, Plaster and Mauve. Alternatively, you could try it out in a lightweight cotton or linen for a more casual feel!

If you’re after an ultra-glam new dress for an up-and-coming party or celebration, or something chic to throw on at the beach or around home, we’d definitely recommend giving the Trina a go!
