Pattern Reviews — The Assembly Line Wide Leg Jumpsuit

Pattern Reviews — The Assembly Line Wide Leg Jumpsuit

Swedish indie pattern brand The Assembly Line released their Wide Leg Jumpsuit pattern a few weeks ago and we're loving its minimal aesthetic and simple silhouette.

We were excited to try this pattern out in a colourful printed fluid rayon available in stores and online, which has just the right amount of drape for this pattern! The Wide Leg Jumpsuit is a relaxed-fitting garment with a trans-seasonal feel and would work beautifully in a wide variety of woven fabrics.

Read on for our review, modelled by the lovely Zosia from our HQ team!

Pattern Review

The Assembly Line — Wide-Leg Jumpsuit

The Wide-Leg Jumpsuit features a dropped shoulder, back v-neck, crossover bodice, side pockets, and clever shirring detail at the back waist. This was a super fun garment to sew! The optional belt is handy for styling and pairs well with our soft, drapey rayon.

The Assembly Line suggest this pattern is an 'Easy' skill level and we would agree, as it was straightforward to put together with uncomplicated finishing details. The instruction booklet was very well put together, with useful tips on pattern adjustment and clear graphics to explain pattern markings and seam examples.

We checked Zosia’s measurements against the measurement chart and decided to merge the size L bodice through the hip to a size XL leg to give a little more volume.

This project used 3.2m of our Confetti Rayon Twill Primary, which is 141cm in width and this yield was spot-on with what The Assembly Line advises. Keep reading for other fabric suggestions!

The Wide-Leg Jumpsuit pattern is available here as a PDF download or printed paper version from The Assembly Line website.

Fabric Recommendations

The Assembly Line advises using light to medium weight fabrics for this pattern. We think it's a style that would work well in a woven fabric that isn't too heavy, such as a midweight Linen, Liberty Tana Cotton Lawn, Viscose Twill, or even a luxe Silk Crepe De Chine or Silk Satin. Sew many options!

Overall we were pretty happy with the end result and would love to make up a Wide-Leg Jumpsuit in a beautiful summery Vintage Finish Linen! Share your creations with us on Instagram via @wearethefabricstore using #TheFabricStore
