Pattern Reviews — Odette Dress Veronica Tucker

Oh-dette! We jumped for joy when this delightful pattern was released by fellow slow-fashion advocate and designer Veronica Tucker in April. It's no secret that we're massive linen fans, and this carefully designed pattern pairs perfectly with all manner of linens. Read on for our review using our Organic Linen, kindly modelled by Zosia from our Online Store team.

Pattern Review

Odette Dress — Veronica Tucker

The Odette pattern is a mock-wrap style dress with a bias cut, full circle skirt and detailed dart features on the bodice and sleeves. The pattern can also be made as a separate peplum-style blouse and bias cut skirt, if you wish! We made the dress in a size 14 for Zosia, using the D-G cup bodice. This took approximately 4.3m of our Organic Linen in fabulous Foxglove pink, plus 0.8m of Tencel Twill in Verbena for the top lining and a 40cm invisible zip. The instruction manual included with the pattern is fantastic, with great illustrations and lots of handy tips throughout. If we were going to make the dress again for Zosia, we'd take the extra time to adjust the bodice fit using the specific instructions included. Odette is an intermediate-level pattern, with zips and pleat techniques that you'll need some experience for. We loved this project and would highly recommend it for intermediate sewists wanting an elegant wrap-style dress that will work for a variety of occasions!

The Odette pattern caters to Australian sizes 6-24 as well as 2 bra cup sizes (A-C cup size and D-G cup size). Download the pattern in PDF format here and purchase it in printed hardcopy format here
