Pattern Reviews — Array Top

Say hello to your new wardrobe fave from Papercut Patterns... the Array Top! This simple pattern caught our eye when it was released last year as it can be made up in both woven and knit fabrics, something you don't find too often. We chose to try it out in our Coral Viscose Crepe; simple yet stylish for everyday wearing and an elegant option for seasonal parties and weddings! Kindly worn here by Annelise from our Online Store team.

Pattern Review

Papercut have cleverly designed the Array as both a dress and a top, with a bunch of variations to choose from. For the sleeves, you can opt for a voluminous bell sleeve with elasticated hem or a wide, straight shape. You can make your dress or top with a straight-cut body, or add in extra-long wrap-around ties to cinch in it at your waist.

We chose to make up the top with elasticated bell sleeves, waist ties and a straight hem... how cute does the end result look?! Annelise is wearing the size 2 with no alterations to the fit. The silhouette is relaxed and drapey, with the waist tie offering an elegant cinch at the waist.
Our top took 1.8m of our Coral Viscose Crepe plus 40cm of 5mm wide elastic for the sleeve hems. As with all Papercut Patterns, the instructions were simple and clear to follow, ideally suited for a beginner level sewist! You will be required to bind the neckline, which we'd recommend practicing with scrap fabrics if you've never tried this before.

Fabric Recommendations

Viscose Crepe - Coral

We love the luxurious feel of the Array made up in our soft, textural Viscose Crepe! Because this pattern has such a simple relaxed silhouette, it would suit a range of different fabrics including cotton knits and merino jerseys.

Check out our suggestions below, from the top to bottom: Micro Deco Fan Print Rayon - Chestnut, ZQ Premium Merino - Ivory, Liberty Bloomsbury Crinkle Chiffon - Pepper B, Organic Linen - Maple and Italian Linen Gauze - Carob.

With so many options, the Array is definitely a must-make! We'll be trying the dress version out in snuggly merino jersey for layering up when the weather gets cooler here in the Southern Hemisphere.
