Pattern Review

Amy Dress by Paper Doll Patterns - A4 PDF Only

Paper Doll Patterns are a New Zealand based children's pattern company with a range of versatile PDF downloadable patterns in classic styles with super cute details for sizes from 0-3 months - 4 year olds.

The Amy Dress is a simple woven child's dress pattern for 6-12 months - 4yrs. It has a round neck, back button placket & gathered skirt at empire waist seam. View A is unlined with long sleeves & bias neck binding + peter pan collar. View B is unlined & sleeveless, with bias neck & armhole binding. View C is long sleeved and has a lined bodice & bagged out neckline. View D is sleeveless and has a lined bodice & bagged out neck & armholes + peter pan collar. Views A & D can also be made without the collar!

Margot wears view A in a size 3yr for, using just 1 metre of our Exclusive Olive Gingham Linen (140cm wide) and 0.2 metres of Fusible Interfacing - Stayflex - White, we thought this fit Margot comfortably and looks so sweet!

We found the instructions easy to follow and enjoyed the straight forward sew. We agree with Paper Doll Patterns that the sewing ability level is suited for a Beginner. A great tip from the Paper Doll Instructions are - if you find bias binding fiddly to sew options C & D (the lined bodice variations) may be a good place to start instead!

Fabric Recommendations

Exclusive Olive Gingham Linen

Using only 1 metre of fabric (140cm wide) or 0.9 if you make the collarless versions, this makes for a very economical sew, ideal for left over fabric or smaller pieces in your fabric stash! We think this style looks adorable sewn up in our Exclusive Gingham Linen and would also be lovely made up in a Liberty Tana Lawn or Poplin, or in our dreamy Exclusive Crinkle Linen version for warm weather.

See below for our other Exclusive Gingham Linen colours, Bone, Vintage Blush, Canary, Paprika, Olive, Navy and Black available in all stores and online.

We love how many variations of the Amy Dress you have to choose from, making this pattern usable all year round! If you have a special little one in your life we think you'll enjoy making this adorable dress. Share your creations with us by tagging @wearethefabricstore or using #thefabricstore
